The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Norwegian Mapping Authority, is supporting Kosovo in implementing a modern address system for Kosovo. As part of this support, Norway is funding the installation of road name signs in a number municipalities.
STREET SIGNS: The address project consists of signalization of road names and entrance numbers.
This is a continuation of the "Adresses for people and businesses" project which was funded from 2013-2018. You can read more about the results of the "Adresses for people and businesses" project.
A new address system for Kosovo ensures that all citizens and businesses have a unique road address. Most of the municipalities have completed the naming of streets and roads.
Activities include the signalization of streetnames in 4 northern municiplities: Pejë, Gjilan, Kamenicë and Klinë. Most of the signs are mounted on posts, however approximately 10% are mounted on house walls.
Status as of May 2019
About 1/3 of the work still remains. When the projct ends, only 6 of 35 municipalities will not have street signs, while 20 municipalities will still need house numbers.
